About 在zài:

(1) something + 在zài + a place + a position  

在zài: a particle to indicate the position of something

Examples:

在桌子上面  on the table

zài  zhuō  zi  shàng  miàn                                 

在他左边 on his left

zài  tā  zuǒ  biān

在非洲北面  to the north of Africa

zài  fēi  zhōu  běi  miàn

在我旁边beside me

zài  wǒ  páng  biān

                                 

About 在zài:

(2) Subject + (正)在(  zhèng  )  zài + a verb  

在zài: a particle to indicate the progressive tense

Example 1:

他(正)在唱歌。

tā  (  zhèng  )  zài  chàng  gē  。

He is singing a song.

Example 2: If (1) + (2), what will happen?

Then we CAN’T use two “在” in a sentence.

爸爸(正)在浴室洗澡。(0)

bà  ba  (  zhèng  )  zài  yù  shì  xǐ  zǎo  。  (  0  )

爸爸(正)在浴室在洗澡。(x)

bà  ba  (  zhèng  )  zài  yù  shì  zài  xǐ  zǎo  。  (  x  ) 

Father is taking a bath in the bathroom.

About 再zài:

再zài means “again” or “once more”

Sentence Pattern 1:  再…一次zài  …  yí  cì  : once more; again

再试一次。  zài  shì  yí  cì

Try again.

[再zài + verb + 一次yí  cì: do sth. one more time] 

Sentence Pattern 2: 不再bú  zài :  … not… anymore

她不再爱我了。tā  bú  zài  ài  wǒ  le  。

She doesn’t love me anymore.

[Subject + 不再bú  zài + verb + 了le: …not … anymore; no longer]
