About zài:
(1) something + zài + a place + a position  
zài: a particle to indicate the position of something

Examples:
桌子上面  on the table
zài  zhuō  zi  shàng  miàn                                 
左边 on his left
zài    zuǒ  biān
在非洲北面  to the north of Africa
zài  fēi  zhōu  běi  miàn
在我旁边beside me

About zài:
(2) Subject + ()(  zhèng  )  zài + a verb  
zài: a particle to indicate the progressive tense

Example 1:
()唱歌。
  (  zhèng  )  zài  chàng   
He is singing a song.

Example 2: If (1) + (2), what will happen?
Then we CAN’T use two “ in a sentence.
爸爸()在浴室洗澡。(0)
  ba  (  zhèng  )  zài    shì    zǎo    (  0  )
爸爸()在浴室在洗澡。(x)
  ba  (  zhèng  )  zài    shì  zài    zǎo    (  x  ) 
Father is taking a bath in the bathroom.

About zài:
zài means “again” or “once more

Sentence Pattern 1:  再…一次zài        : once more; again
一次  zài  shì   
Try again.
[zài + verb + 一次  cì: do sth. one more time] 

Sentence Pattern 2: 不再  zài :  … not… anymore
她不再爱我了。    zài  ài    le 
She doesn’t love me anymore.
[Subject + 不再  zài + verb + le: …not … anymore; no longer]
